Somatic Therapy
At SoZo Wellness Institute, Somatic Therapy is a body-based approach that we utilize to support healing that recognizes many emotional experiences (especially stress and trauma) are stored not just in the mind, but within the nervous system. When the body has not had the opportunity to fully process these experiences, it can remain in patterns of tension, hyper-arousal, or shutdown, often showing up as anxiety, overwhelm, or disconnection.

This approach shifts the focus from “talking through” experiences to experiencing and resolving them through the body. By developing awareness of physical sensations, posture, breath, and subtle internal cues, clients learn how their nervous system responds to stress and how to gently guide it back toward a state of regulation and safety.

Sessions may incorporate grounding techniques, breath-work, movement, and guided attention to bodily sensations to help release stored activation and build tolerance for emotional experiences. Over time, this work increases resilience, improves emotional regulation, and helps clients feel more present, connected, and in control.

Somatic Therapy is particularly effective for individuals who feel stuck in patterns they can intellectually understand but cannot seem to shift. At SoZo, this work is offered in a paced, supportive way. This empowers clients to reconnect with their bodies, restore balance, and access a deeper level of healing beyond words.
